Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound beef stew meat, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups egg noodles
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

Directions:

  1. Caramelize the onions:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently until they are caramelized and golden brown.
  2. Add garlic:
Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Brown the beef:
In a separate pot, brown the beef stew meat over medium-high heat until browned on all sides. Drain excess fat and add the beef to the skillet with the onions.
  4. Simmer:
Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
  5. Cook noodles:
Stir in the egg noodles and cook for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the noodles are tender.
  6. Melt the cheese:
Remove from heat and sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese on top. Cover the skillet for a few minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Garnish and serve:
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
