Ingredients

  • 1 lb spaghetti, cooked al dente
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for sautéing)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional, for topping)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 2: Cook Pasta

  • Boil spaghetti in salted water until al dente.
  • Drain and set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Meat

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef, cook until browned, breaking apart as it cooks.
  • Drain excess fat.

Step 4: Sauté Vegetables

  • Add onion, green pepper, red pepper, and garlic.
  • Cook 5–7 minutes, until softened and fragrant.

Step 5: Make the Sauce

  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, basil, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer 15–20 minutes for flavors to meld.

Step 6: Combine Pasta & Sauce

  • Toss cooked spaghetti with meat sauce until well coated.

Step 7: Assemble & Bake

  • Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish.
  • Top with mozzarella and Parmesan (if using).
  • Bake uncovered 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and golden at edges.

Step 8: Serve

  • Let cool slightly before serving.
  • Pair with garlic bread or a crisp green salad.
