Ingredients
- 10 individually wrapped caramels, cut in half
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large can (21 oz) apple pie filling
- 2–3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 can (7.5 oz) biscuit dough
Instructions
- Pour about 2.5 quarts of vegetable oil into a heavy skillet and heat over medium heat until hot.
- In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined. Set aside.
- Separate the biscuit dough and gently flatten each piece with the palm of your hand.
- Place 1 tablespoon of apple pie filling in the center of each biscuit, then add two caramel halves on top.
- Carefully pull the dough up around the filling and pinch tightly to seal.
- Roll each filled biscuit into a smooth ball.
- Using a slotted spoon, lower one or two dough balls into the hot oil. Gently roll them as they fry so they brown evenly.
- Fry until golden brown on all sides, then remove and drain briefly.
- Immediately roll the hot pie bombs in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Let cool slightly and serve warm. Optional: drizzle with extra caramel and add whipped cream.
