Ingredients

The Bake

  • 2 cans refrigerated orange rolls
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (for greasing the pan)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 orange (zest and juice)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Fresh Orange Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3–4 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan
Pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish and swirl to coat the bottom evenly.
  2. Add the Rolls
Cut each orange roll into quarters and spread them evenly across the dish.
  3. Make the Custard
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice until smooth.
  4. Assemble
Pour the custard mixture evenly over the orange roll pieces, making sure all pieces are well coated.
  5. Chill Overnight
Cover tightly with foil and refrigerate overnight (about 8 hours) to allow the rolls to absorb the custard.
  6. Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Remove the foil and bake for 30–35 minutes, until puffed, golden, and set in the center. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  7. Prepare the Icing
In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.
  8. Finish and Serve
Drizzle the icing over the warm casserole and serve immediately.
