This decadent tuxedo cake is a showstopper that combines the richness of chocolate with the lightness of whipped cream. With a blend of white and dark chocolate chips, it’s the perfect dessert for any occasion!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 🍫
- 3 cups all-purpose flour 🌾
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar 🍬
- 1 cup buttermilk 🥛
- 1 cup softened unsalted butter 🧈
- 4 large eggs 🥚
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 🍦
- 1 teaspoon baking soda 🧁
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder 🍞
- ½ teaspoon salt 🧂
- 1 cup hot water 💧
- 1 cup white chocolate chips 🍪
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips 🍫
- Whipped cream for topping 🍶
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
- Slowly pour in the hot water, stirring until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- Fold in the white chocolate chips.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, place one layer of cake on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of whipped cream on top. Sprinkle half of the dark chocolate chips over the cream.
- Top with the second cake layer. Cover the top and sides with more whipped cream and decorate with the remaining dark chocolate chips.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before slicing to allow the flavors to meld.
