Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into bite-sized pieces
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- ⅓ cup honey BBQ sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions:
Sear the Steak:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak bites with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Sear the steak pieces for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the Aromatics:
Reduce the heat to medium and add butter to the same skillet. Sauté the chopped onion for 2 minutes until softened, then add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
Cook the Rice:
Add the uncooked rice to the skillet and stir to coat in the butter and aromatics. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Cover and cook for 15-18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice is tender.
Make It Creamy:
Stir in the heavy cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and honey BBQ sauce. Mix until everything is creamy and well combined.
Add the Steak Back In:
Return the seared steak bites to the skillet, stirring to coat them in the sauce. Let everything warm through for 2-3 minutes.
Garnish & Serve:
Sprinkle with sliced green onions and an extra drizzle of honey BBQ sauce if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
