Savory One-Pot Italian Spaghetti with Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 8 ounces of spaghetti
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Steps

Step 1: Brown the Ground Beef
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a wooden spoon. Remove any excess grease.

Step 2: Sauté the Aromatics
Add the diced onion, minced garlic, and diced red bell pepper to the pot with the ground beef. Sauté until the vegetables are softened and aromatic, about 5 minutes.

Step 3: Cook the Spaghetti
Break the spaghetti into smaller pieces and add them to the pot. Pour in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the spaghetti is cooked al dente.
