Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely grated or minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup or tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: extra cheese, fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, milk, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, and oregano.
  3. Gently mix in the shredded cheese and ketchup until just combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into flat, round patties and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Lightly brush the tops with olive oil.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
  7. If desired, sprinkle extra cheese on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes, until melted and fully cooked.
  8. Let the patties rest for 5 minutes before serving.
